The LEAD team is starting the construction of the FDOT State Road 5 (US-1) from SR 862 (I-595) to SR 842 Broward Boulevard Project. The improvements include rehabilitating the structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and life safety components of the Henry E. Kinney Tunnel; milling and resurfacing SR 5/ US-1 from Rio Vista Boulevard to south of the Tunnel; installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) along SR 5/US-1, extending the Tunnel top to accommodate a pedestrian plaza which will include new fountains, seating facilities, redesigned brick pavers, artificial turf and landscaping installation, and reconstructing the intersection of Las Olas Boulevard at SE 6th Avenue.
